Spirit of Football with The Caucasus Ball visits Armenia by Benni Grunewald

Spirit of Football is a non-profit association based in Germany. We use the power of football in education to advocate a fairer and more inclusive world, based on the three pillars of diversity, respect and teamwork. Our motto One Ball, One World is also represented by The Ball, a football which is fair produced in Kenia from Alive and Kicking, and which travels like football’s Olympic Torch to the FIFA World Cup every four years. Whilst traveling for the first time to the FIFA Women’s World Cup in Australia and New Zeeland The Ball 2023 champions the 17 sustainability goals (SDGs) especially focusing on SDG 13 climate action and on SDG 5 Gender equality. Currently it is on its way through Georgia and Armenia, encountering people, giving workshops, and gaining knowledge to enrich our interactive educational modules.

We are very glad to have the chance to bring The Ball’s little sibling to Armenia to exchange experiences with the locals and to create more awareness for the SDGs, Teamwork and Fair_Play. In Stepanavan Spirit of Football is Coaching coaches of GOALS. Content of the first Day was about Introducing Spirit of Football, a lot of Energizers, the SDGs and finally Fair Play Football. On the second day there will be plenty of activities such as a theatre method and a game called “where do you play?”. We courage the coaches to use those methods in their environment.

Last part of Day 1 was a fair, inclusive and respectful game called Fair Play Football. At the end everyone came together to scream our motto “One Ball, One World”. We, as Spirit of Football Team, are happy to work with such an incredible team, especially working in rural Armenia is important for us to support the less populated areas. 11 Coaches, Woman and Men, from the whole Area are participating in the Workshop.
